Yes. Stripping location before you share is sensible, and it does not affect the copies you keep.
Coordinates in a photo can show where you live. Most social networks strip them on upload, but a file sent by email or chat usually keeps them, and so does a file on a USB stick.
On Windows, right-click, Properties, Details, then Remove Properties and Personal Information. On a Mac, exporting without location does the same. Both work on a selection of files.
