Privacy
The app runs on your computer and works on your files there. Your photos, videos and .json files are never uploaded, copied to us, or sent anywhere.
Last updated 5 September 2026. Applies to Takeout JSON Metadata Fixer on macOS, Windows and Linux, and to this website.
What the app does with your files
It reads your Google Takeout archives or a folder you choose, and writes the organized photos into a folder you choose. All of that happens on your own disk. There is no account, no sign-in, no cloud processing and no analytics or crash reporting inside the app.
The two things that do use the network
| When | What is sent | To whom |
|---|---|---|
| Place names are turned on | GPS coordinates from a photo, rounded to roughly one kilometre. Nothing else: no image, no filename, no date. Results are cached so nearby photos share one request. | On Mac, Apple's geocoding service (CLGeocoder), under Apple's privacy policy. On Windows and Linux, OpenStreetMap Nominatim, under the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. Requests carry the app's name as the user agent, as Nominatim's usage policy requires. |
| You buy Premium | The purchase itself. | On Mac, Apple, through the Mac App Store. On Windows and Linux, the licence key is bought from a checkout page opened in your browser and then typed into the app; the app checks the key offline and does not contact a server to do so. |
Place names are optional. Leave them off and the app makes no network requests at all. It does not phone home, check for updates on its own, or send usage data.
What stays on your computer
- Your photos, videos and .json sidecars, before and after processing.
- Your settings, such as naming templates and the last folders you used.
- Your Premium unlock or licence key.
Uninstalling the app removes it. Your organized photos are ordinary files in the folder you chose and are yours to keep.
This website
This site is static pages hosted on Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics scripts. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google's servers and Google sees the request the way it does for any website using Google Fonts. Cloudflare keeps ordinary server logs for its own operation, described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
