Takeout JSON

Why Not Just Use a Python Script?

You can, and many exist. The hard part is not the code, it is the edge cases in your export.

Writing the basic loop takes an afternoon: read the .json, write the date, move on. Plenty of scripts on GitHub already do that much.

A finished run: 31 organized, 0 converted, 8 located, 0 issues, with a button to open the folder.
Counts at the end, including anything it could not do

Then you meet the real export. Truncated sidecar names, edited copies, Live Photo pairs, the same picture in three albums, videos, HEIC, photos with no sidecar at all. Each one is a decision, and a wrong one is silent.

Takeout JSON Metadata Fixer handles those cases and tells you what it could not place. It runs on your own computer and is free for your first 500 photos.
