How Do I Sort Photos by Date Taken in Windows?
Explorer can sort by Date Taken, but only if the photos actually have one. Here is how to turn the column on and what to do when it is empty.
In File Explorer, right-click the column headings and choose More. Tick Date Taken. Now click that heading to sort. If you are in a view without headings, switch to Details view first.
Many people find the column is empty. That means the photos have no date inside them. Explorer is not hiding it. Google Takeout exports do this, and so do photos sent through WhatsApp or downloaded from the web.
