What Happens to Live Photos in Google Takeout?
They come out as two files, a picture and a short video, with the same name. Here is how to keep them together.
A Live Photo is really two files: a still image and a two or three second video. Google Takeout exports both, side by side, with matching names. Nothing is lost, but nothing tells your computer they belong together either.
Import them and you may see every moment twice, once as a photo and once as a clip. Some people delete the videos out of frustration, which throws away the part that makes a Live Photo worth having.
Takeout JSON Metadata Fixer keeps the pairs together, or merges each pair into a single Motion Photo that Google and Samsung galleries play as one item. It runs on your own computer and is free for your first 500 photos.
